Bursa – A new era begins in building energy efficiency with thermal insulation applications aimed at increasing energy savings and ensuring sustainability. The new insulation regulation, effective from April 1, 2025, opens the door to significant changes in the construction sector.
EPSA Insulation & Construction Chemicals Board Chair Nurcan Özdemir evaluated the new regulation: "With the new steps aimed at increasing energy efficiency in Turkey, thickness standards for building insulation are being updated. With the regulation improving energy limits and U-values, buildings will be designed according to heating and cooling needs, and the thickness of the thermal insulation boards used in applications will change. Accordingly, wall insulation boards that previously required 5 cm or thicker will now be used at 8 cm or thicker. Similarly, insulation thicknesses on roofs will increase to prevent energy losses."
With the update of the new regulation, adjustments have been made to maximize energy savings by considering cities’ climate conditions. Özdemir emphasized that the new regulation will positively affect energy performance in buildings across Turkey: "While updating the regulation, different climate conditions were considered to maximize energy savings. This regulation will significantly improve the energy performance of buildings nationwide. Updating the TS 825 Thermal Insulation in Buildings Standard is an important step. These regulations will contribute to the national economy and individual energy savings, and also help reduce greenhouse gas emissions with an environmentally conscious approach. The new regulation is a very important step both for the national economy and a sustainable future."
Özdemir stated that EPSA Insulation has updated its product portfolio to fully comply with the new regulation: "With our high-tech, high-performance insulation solutions, we are ready to support this new process in the best possible way. We are strengthening our smart production systems and quality control mechanisms and continue to invest in sustainable production technologies. Thanks to our R&D efforts, we continuously develop a product portfolio that maximizes the energy performance of buildings."
As these changes aim to increase energy savings and comfort, they are expected to create a significant transformation in the construction sector, and EPSA Insulation will continue to take a leading role with its innovative solutions.
What is TS 825?
The TS 825 standard is a regulation that defines the principles of thermal insulation in buildings in Turkey. Published by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), this standard is designed to increase energy efficiency in buildings, reduce heat losses, and lower fuel consumption.
